General Dentistry

Most adults benefit from dental exams and cleanings every 6 months. Patients with a history of gum disease, cavities, or other risk factors may need more frequent visits — typically every 3–4 months. Dr. Chen or your treating dentist will recommend the right schedule for your specific needs.

A routine exam includes a thorough visual inspection of your teeth, gums, and oral tissues, X-rays (typically every 12–24 months), an oral cancer screening, gum health assessment (pocket depth measurements), and a professional cleaning. You'll receive a personalised report and recommendations at the end of your visit.

Yes. Modern digital X-rays use up to 80% less radiation than traditional film X-rays. The amount of radiation from a full set of dental X-rays is less than you'd receive on a short flight. We use lead aprons and thyroid collars as standard practice, and we take X-rays only when clinically necessary.

We see this often and we never judge. Our team will conduct a thorough assessment, catch up on any needed care, and create a manageable treatment plan at your pace. We prioritise what's most urgent first and will explain everything clearly before proceeding with any treatment.

Insurance & Billing

We are in-network with Aetna, Cigna, Delta Dental, MetLife, United Healthcare, Guardian, Humana, and Blue Cross Blue Shield. We also work with hundreds of other plans as an out-of-network provider. Call us to verify your specific plan.

You can call the member services number on the back of your insurance card, or let us do it for you. Our billing team contacts your insurer before your first visit and provides you with a pre-treatment estimate outlining your expected costs. Use our insurance verification form to get started.

No insurance? No problem. Our BrightSmile Membership Plans start at just $29/month and cover your annual exams, cleanings, and X-rays. We also offer CareCredit financing and in-house payment plans. Everyone deserves a healthy smile.

Treatments & Procedures

Modern fillings are performed under local anaesthetic so you won't feel pain during the procedure. You may feel mild pressure. Afterward, some sensitivity is normal for 1–2 days. We also offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas) for patients with dental anxiety.

Professional whitening results typically last 1–3 years depending on your diet and lifestyle. Coffee, tea, red wine, and tobacco speed up re-staining. Touch-up treatments every 6–12 months can maintain your results. Take-home whitening trays make touch-ups easy and affordable.

For mild to moderate cases, Invisalign is equally effective as traditional braces and often faster. Complex bite corrections, severe rotations, or vertical tooth movement may still require traditional braces. Dr. Patel will evaluate your case and recommend the best option at your complimentary orthodontic consultation.

Children's Dentistry

The American Dental Association recommends a first dental visit by age 1, or within 6 months of the first tooth appearing. Early visits help identify development issues, establish good oral hygiene habits, and get children comfortable with the dental setting. First visits at BrightSmile are always complimentary.

Talk about the visit positively and avoid using words like "hurt," "shot," or "drill." Read books about dental visits, play pretend dentist at home, and let them bring a favourite toy. Dr. Okonkwo is specially trained in paediatric behaviour guidance and will go at your child's pace — tours of the equipment, tell-show-do, and lots of encouragement are part of every visit.

Dental Emergencies

Dental emergencies include: severe toothache, knocked-out tooth, cracked or broken tooth, lost crown or filling, dental abscess (swelling with fever or pus), soft tissue injuries, and jaw injuries. If in doubt, call us — we'd rather hear from you and determine it's not urgent than have you suffer needlessly.

  1. Pick up the tooth by the crown (white part), never the root
  2. Rinse gently with water — do not scrub
  3. Try to re-insert into the socket if possible, or store in milk or between cheek and gum
  4. Call us immediately at (555) 911-9111
  5. Time is critical — best results within 30 minutes of injury

We reserve emergency slots every day for urgent care. Call our emergency line at (555) 911-9111 and we aim to see you within hours, not days. If you call before 9 AM, we can often accommodate you the same morning.
